We can help with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of various server systems. We work with both Microsoft and various Unix/Linux systems.
Windows Domain Servers
Setting up a Windows domain can greatly assist with the security and maintenance of your data and workstations. Using technology such as group policies can limit what your employees can and cannot do with their computers. Use of an Active Directory domain will allow you to have consistent usernames and passwords across all of your workstations. We can setup Windows file and print servers in addition to domain servers.
Application Servers
If you have requirements to host your own Application or Line of Business servers, we can help with that too. We can install and configure various database servers (Microsoft SQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL). We can also work with your vendors to install and configure third party line of business applications including Microsoft Dynamics (Great Plains), Filemaker based solutions etc. If you need to host your servers off-site, we can assist with server co-location or even setting your solution up in the cloud (e.g. AWS, Azure, etc.)
E-mail Servers
There are some strong arguments for moving your e-mail systems to the cloud. Providers such as Google (Google Apps for Business), Microsoft (Office 365), and AppRiver (hosted Exchange) take care of all of the maintenance and security for you for a reasonable monthly per user cost. If you want to host your own, we install and maintain on-premise (and hybrid) Exchange servers. If you just need a basic POP or IMAP e-mail system, we can do that too!
Web Servers
We can install, configure and maintain a variety of web servers – Microsoft IIS, Apache’s httpd, or NGINX. We strongly encourage you to host your website at one of the cloud providers.
File Transfer Systems
Need a secure way to send and receive files from third parties (customers, vendors etc.)? We can assist with designing a solution to meet your needs. We have experience with Linux based scp/sftp systems as well as more “cloud” like solutions such as self hosted ownCloud.
Network Attached Storage
Although not usually considered as a server, NAS devices really are servers. Newer generations of NAS devices from vendors such as QNAP and Synology even offer the ability to run virtual servers (both regular Linux and Docker). Sometimes a simple NAS is all you need on your network to share files with your employees or coworkers. These devices can usually be configured with redundant disks so that you’re not at risk from a single drive failure. Of course, you still need backups…..
